Time for change
24% of fatal or serious injury collisions in Britain involve 17 to 24-year-olds
Young drivers are at high risk - but tragedy isn’t inevitable. With the right support and safeguards, we can prevent lives being lost and families torn apart. It’s time to act.

It's not just young drivers and passengers at risk.
Crashes involving young drivers don’t just harm those in the car. In 2023, nearly 5,000 people were killed or seriously injured in collisions involving at least one young driver - including pedestrians, cyclists and other road users unconnected to the driver. The consequences are far-reaching and devastating.
Carrying passengers
The presence of peer-aged passengers can lead to distraction and pressure to drive dangerously.
Driving at night
Crash risk is significantly higher at night due to reduced visibility and increased likelihood of fatigue or risk-taking behaviour.
Risky behaviour
Young drivers, particularly males, may engage in risky behaviours such as speeding or overtaking unsafely.
